About Our Staff Members
|Brian Charles, Owner and Director
Brian is a Juilliard trained double reed player and long-time professional performer. He founded Charles Double Reed Company in 1984.
Brian has been employed as a late night radio DJ, cookie baker, gas station attendant and all the other things a professional musician pays his dues doing. He has recorded and performed extensively on oboe, bassoon, clarinet, sax, flute, didjeridu and piano. In addition to playing on Broadway and with numerous orchestras he can be heard on video game soundtracks, television and radio commercials.
He has been deeply involved with the new music scene, and has performed with seminal Philadelphia noise band The NoteKillers, the Anthony Braxton Orchestra, avant-garde composer Sorrel Hays, new music pianist Loretta Goldberg and appeared at The Kitchen, Experimental Intermedia and many others.
Brian moved his family and the business from Manhattan to New Hampshire in 1994. He truly likes reed making and makes all the reeds for our company.
Jennifer has been with Charles Double Reeds for over 14 years and is the glue that holds together our daily operations. In addition to handling most of our financial activities, her long experience with the needs of double reed players makes her a valuable and respected resource both within our company, and to the many folks who have come to know her via phone over the years. She is the proud mother of twin boys, Zack and Ty.
John is a trained electrical engineer, experienced computer tech and General Manager of our sister company, North Conway Music Center. He's been with Charles Double Reeds for over 12 years.
Bruce expertly handles our back office operations including managing and facilitating website orders, receiving, shipping and much more. He has long experience in music performance.
